Here’s the deal people… I believe vaccines are great and my son has all the recommended vaccinations. (for his age)
What is scary is that today people are choosing to NOT vaccinate… have you heard the news lately? CNN reported that 2013 may have been the worse year for measles since 1996! There have been measles outbreaks in the tri-state area! At the Palisades Mall, at Fordham University in the Bronx… I’d love to tell people who choose to not vaccinate their kids that they are putting their kids at risk and that they are putting OTHER kids at risk as well… but I’m not going to do that because I really don’t like hate mail. 😉 What I will tell you… Did you know that a child dies of preventable diseases every 20 seconds? That’s preposterous!!
I’m a Shot @ Life Champion!
I first heard about Shot@Life last August during “Blogust” when some of my favorite bloggers participated in a blogging campaign to support Shot @ Life, a UN Foundation Campaign to raise awareness, advocate and raise funds for childhood vaccination around the world… When I heard I could apply to be part of this campaign I jumped on the opportunity!
So here I am in Washington D.C with other committed individuals (bloggers, moms, pediatricians, non profit professionals, etc. etc.) to learn about the campaign, learn media and advocacy strategies and more!
You will be hearing more about my experience during the Champion Summit but for nowI leave you with this:
