I have always loved books and I’ve made sure our house is full of them! As my son gets older, I have been removing the books for younger children (saving those for baby number 2’s library!) and started building a little library with books in Spanish, English and French that are appropriate for my 5 year old.
UN CASO GRAVE DE RAYAS
Camila is a young girl who doesn’t want to eat certain food in front of her friends, because she wants to please them and not be made fun of. One day she starts getting stripes on her body, and then everything else that kids and people around her shout out! How will she cure this? A great lesson in this book!
NO DEJES QUE LA PALOMA CONDUZCA EL AUTOBUS
We love Mo Willems! His books are simple yet full of emotions! The Pigeon is hilarious and this is his most famous book– “Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus!” (Check out more Mo Willems in Spanish here).
CLIFFORD VA AL DOCTOR
We love all Clifford books! In this one, he goes to the doctor when he is a tiny puppy, but things change the following year!
AMELIA BEDELIA
I was so happy to introduce Amelia Bedelia to my son, because I remember reading and laughing with her books when I was a child. Amelia is a funny maid that always reads her to-do lists and misunderstands what it says, which ends up in hilarious situations!
EL DÍA QUE LOS CRAYONES RENUNCIARON
Each crayon writes a letter to its owner to tell him how they feel about their situation, and why they are quitting! Hilarious.
DRAGONES Y TACOS
Who doesn’t love a story about dragons that loves tacos? All kinds of tacos!!! Maybe this will inspire your little one to taste TACOS!!
RAMONA LA CHINCHE
For those of you who want to start chapter books, Ramona is a good one… this one talks about starting Kindergarten so it may provide good opportunities to talk about what is happening in Kindergarten. It’s not a picture book so kids will really have to listen and pay attention!
