Last year, I decided that 2014 was going to be the year that my blog got a makeover… so TADA! Here it is!
2013 was a pretty good year for me. Personally, I think I got a better handle on being a working mom (even though Enzo’s sleep issues are still there.) My husband and I celebrated our six year anniversary. We traveled and spent holidays with our family in France, and we even got to get away as a couple, twice! (That was pretty awesome!) We had a lot of great moments with family and friends but were saddened by the loss of some loved ones.
Enzo’s language skills (the initial reason why I started blogging!) continue to flourish, and 2013 marked the introduction of English when he started daycare. I’m continuously blown away his ability to codeswitch between Spanish, English and French.
Professionally, 2013 was very good to me. As a blogger and writer, I had amazing opportunities to work with people I admire, and write for great outlets. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be join the NBC Latino family, as a family and parenting contributor. This really was dream come true, and I’m so lucky to be able to say that I was able to fulfill one of my dreams!
I have big dreams and goals for my writing and blogging in 2014! This redesign is step one, and I hope you will continue reading as the year progresses. One of my goals is to flex my writing muscles en español. Another goal is to use this blog to promote social causes and be an advocate for the issues I am passionate about. I plan to continue sharing my experiences raising my multilingual child and hope that I inspire others to raise bilingual or multilingual kids.
I’d like to take this time to give a special shout out to the wonderful bloggers, editors and friends who have given me support and advice: Lorraine Ladish, for giving me an opportunity at Mamiverse, Ana Flores for welcoming me to Spanglish Baby, Trina Fresco for recommending me to NBC Latino, Chris Peña for giving me a shot at NBC Latino, Sandra Lilley for her words of encouragement, Jeannette Kaplun for welcoming me to Hispana Global, Elisa Batista for being a wonderful friend and supporter, Adrianna Domingos-Lupher, Who made me believe moving from tumblr to WP would be a piece of cake, Migdalia Rivera for being a mentor, Eileen Carter-Campos for being a great cheerleader, Vanessa Martinez Bell for being supportive and answering all my blogging questions (and I had a lot!), Noelia Rodriguez for keeping me sane day in and day out, and finally, Sili Recio who is responsible for creating this beautiful blog you see here!
Finally, a huge shout out to my loves, my husband Ludovic who has been supportive since day one and to my little Enzo who started it all! I’d be remiss if I didn’t give an ENORMOUS shout out and GRACIAS to my parents, who forced me to speak “Español en la casa, inglés en la escuela” and who always encouraged me to follow my dreams and to be proud of and never deny mis raíces.
Hope you will visit often!
Abrazos,
Diana aka Ladydee
