Would you like to be able to hypnotize people? That would be a pretty cool ability, right? I would hypnotize my son to make him listen to my instructions the first time I said them, so I didn’t have to repeat myself five times. I’d hypnotize him so that when I clapped twice, he’d immediate begin putting his toys away!! Oh I can just imagine the things I’d do and the fun I’d have!
Now, imagine that you were able to hypnotize people, but the catch is, you’re not able to sleep. Well, that gets more complicated doesn’t it? I don’t know about you, but I love sleep. I’m pretty sure I’d be grouchy and miserable.
That’s exactly what is happening to Arenas, the main character in HBO Latino’s El Hipnotizador which premieres tonight at 10pm ET/9pm CT.
I got the chance to watch the first episode (and you can too on Facebook now!) and there is SO much intrigue, so many unknowns. Like, WHY is this guy unable to sleep? Why is he so tormented? I mean, look at him… doesn’t he look tormented? (And he’s kind of cute, don’t you think?)
And of course, like any good show, you don’t know what is going on… which is what has me hooked. I need answers.
Watching the first episode of El Hipnotizador, which is in Spanish and Portuguese (but with subtitles, so no worries if you don’t speak those languages) made me think back to when I was little and telenovelas would be playing in the background. I always hated the cliffhanger precisely at the moment when the show was ending! But it’s clear that El Hipnotizador is a much more developed story line than the typical novela that I remember from childhood, it’s not predictable… I have no idea where the storyline is going– I will definitely be watching to find out!
