Meet Disney’s Elena of Avalor and friends

Last night my son got a sneak peak at the premiere of Disney’s Elena of Avalor on Disney on Demand. He loved it. He wanted more!

If you haven’t watched it yet, no fear, Elena of Avalor makes its national debut TONIGHT at 7 pm ET/ 6pm PT on Disney Junior.

I Elena of Avalor and friends

Here’s the scoop on Elena and her friends:

Elena is Disney’s newest princess. She is 16 years old and lives with her abuelos. She is the ascendant to the throne of Avalor, an enchanted fairytale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin and Hispanic cultures. She has to wait until she is old enough to become queen. ELena loves to play the guitar and fencing as well (talk about badass!)

Isabel is Elena’s younger sister. She was held captive in a painting until Elena rescued her. She looks up to Elena and is very good at helping her formulate clever plans to save the day. She is into building things and loves to sketch.

Naomi is the daughter of the harbormaster, who is responsible for all the trading ships arriving and departing Avalor City. She becomes Elena’s best friend and Elena sees she is smart and gives her good advice, so she appoints to her Grand Council, which advises Elena on royal matters and approves her decisions.

Gabriel Nuñez, or Gabe, is a member of the Royal Guard who is responsible for protecting Elena and Isabel.

Mateo is another one of Elena’s best friends, who she appoints as Avalor’s Royal Wizard. He carries a tamborita which is inspired by the drums used by the Mapuche “Machi” (shaman) in Chile.

Skylar is a fast magical flying creature (called a jaquin) who helps Elena on her journey as she learns how to rule her kingdom. Jaquins are part jaguar/part macaw – both indigenous animals to Latin America.

Migs is Skylar’s best friend. SHe has traveled quite a bit so she has a lot of knowledge about how things work and a lot of common sense!

Luna is the daredevil of the group and she is Skylar’s cousin. She is always up for the next adventure on Elena’s journey as she learns how to rule her kingdom.

Make sure you check out Elena of Avalor! You will love it!

  1. I’m excited about this show. I hope it does well. I have 3 boys (8, 7 & 5), but I plan on getting them to watch, too. 🙂
