The #LoveUrself Movement

When my friend, creative genius Randi Klein aka DoodleHedz, approached me about her #loveurself movement and asked me to help her spread the word, I couldn’t say no. Part of the reason I started blogging was to spread the word on good ideas, right? Well spreading the word about this idea that we must, and we should, love ourselves is right up my alley!

Before I go into the details of how we’re going to spread the word, I’d like to introduce you to Randi, aka DoodleHedz, aka CreativeGenius. (I gave her that title.)

1. First, tell us a little bit about yourself. What are your passions? What are your hobbies?

I was born in New York City and have been living Harlem for 9 years. My passion is photography and capturing moments and turning them into memories. Hobbies, that’s tough..I have many..dog walks in the park with pooch.riding my fixed gear bike and the sense of freedom it gives me. DJ’ing..hitting the gym.doodling.knitting.painting.ping-pong. spades. dominoes. backgammon. tweeting. instagramming.

2: You’re a very creative person, what inspires you to be creative?

I think it’s my inability to sit still. The need to always be doing something. Mostly i’m inspired by the arts and it’s ability to free the soul.

3: How did you come up with #loveurself?
Simply because we read so many negative things and we are bombarded by negativity. It seemed that when you read something whether internally or out loud it empowers you, why not have it be something positive?

4. Why do you think it is important to launch a movement like this?
To balance out the negativity. the bullying. the ideals that people think they have to live up to that are virtually unattainable. This movement can instill a sense of empowerment in kids and create a ripple effect that moves people to accomplish whatever they set their minds to.

5. What do you hope to accomplish with this movement?
I hope that it can instill a sense of self-worth in anyone that may feel they are unloved or unworthy of being loved.

6. Why do you call it a movement?
Because a movement can be physical but it can also be an emotional and mental shift. And the ability to #loveurself can shift your entire life in a positive direction.

7. What is your wish for the #loveurself movement?
To provide a sense of inner strength in young people. If people know how to love themselves and they treat themselves with love and respect and dignity then they can begin to treat and love others the same way, and the world can sure use a little more love these days.

I sure agree!!
