I’m honored to attend LATISM (Latinos in Social Media)’s conference this year in Coronado Springs Resort in Disney World as a speaker and as a top digital influencer!
LATISM conference has three tracks: education, health and civic engagement. Its panels bring together experts in these fields, digital influencers and brands that recognize the power of the Hispanic/Latino market. Among them some of my favorites: Disney, Johnson and Johnson and Google for example.
Every year a group of select digital influencers (formerly only bloggers) are selected to be part of an intensive one day “Top Influencer Retreat” where we learn tools to improve our advocacy game and keep fighting for our causes. The women and men in this space are fighting to improve conditions in many areas: education, health, diversity and inclusion, civil rights and so much more.
I’m honored to be a top digital influencer for the second time and I’m thrilled to be sharing my thoughts and experiences in a panel called “American Latinos & Their Role in Multicultural America” with Dania Santana from Embracing Diversity, Juan Alanis of Juan of Words and Elyssa from Wholly Art.
This year’s theme, Latinos as Change Agents, is very fitting for an election year. More and more, we are seeing the power of Latinos in social media. Whether it is through tweet chats, marches, fasting for immigration reform, visiting Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers, Latinos are everywhere and people are starting to notice!
Since I started blogging, my cultural heritage has been a part of my writing. I started blogging initially to share my experiences (both triumphs and challenges) in raising a trilingual child (my husband is French, so we speak three languages at home) but it was clear to me that being part of a multicultural family, and being a second-generation immigrant raising a child in the United States, meant that I needed to use my voice to keep my culture alive both in my home and in my community.
