Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: What Latino Means to Me  

I have a confession… I have never really celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month before (I know, I know–WHAT?!)

I don’t know why… I don’t think I ever felt the need to celebrate it before. Growing up in NYC, I have always been exposed to Hispanic culture, food and language, from many countries in Latin America. I also grew up being taught the importance of being proud of my roots and my heritage.

Maybe now it is different because I’m a parent, and I’m raising a multicultural child. Indeed, making a parent makes you more aware of what you celebrating and exposing your children to, as well as the importance of passing on and preserving language and culture. Preserving language and culture was actually the driving force behind me starting a blog!

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to explore the richness and cultural diversity of other countries, and more importantly, to educate the public on the beauty of our diversity. It is also a great opportunity to get kids excited about their heritage! So, I’m delighted to be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month this year! From blog posts to Instagram pics, to hosting a Twitter party**, Ladydee has a lot going on this month!
