#FrenchFridays: The French Cheese Board: French Cheese in the Heart of Midtown

If you know me, you know that are few things in life that I love more than cheese… and you know that I love France… so when you combine those two, well French cheese is just as good as it gets, amirite??

Last night I discovered a magical place where you can buy cheese and learn about cheese and attend cheese events right in the heart of NYC… the French Cheese Board!

I have been following the French Cheese Board and  Cheeses of Europe on Instagram for a while now (because, you know J’aime le fromage). A  couple of nights ago I saw a photo of my favorite cheese ever (ok one of them)… St. Nectaire! I was super excited because I have even been to St. Nectaire in Auvergne, France, where the cheese is made. (Many cheeses are named after the town or place where they are made, like Bleu d’Auvergne is made in Auvergne).

This led me to discover that the French Cheese Board has a shop in the heart of midtown, right by Bryant Park. French Cheese Board Kitchen   The French Cheese Board has a space that serves as an art gallery, shop and event space. (Details to follow!) Their mission is to promote all things French cheese and they offer many events which are open to the public. Last night we attended a cheese and tea tasting which was incredible.

You have to check them out ASAP. Aside from the events they host, head on over to buy some cheese. They offer a fine selection of cheeses (which changes monthly) at affordable prices. The best part? There is always a cheese that is 50 percent off!!! Last night we walked away  with some delicious double-crème brie which I cannot wait to try!

If you are not a cheese connoisseur, it is a great place to learn more about cheeses without getting overwhelmed which can happen if you go to a cheese counter at a supermarket or bigger shop. Also, the mission of FCB is to educate the public about French cheese so you KNOW they know what they’re talking about.

Here are the details about the shop:

The French Cheese Board

26 West 39th Street (between 5th and 6th avenue)

Open from 11-7 every day.

One more fun fact that I have to share because I’m so excited about it… you CAN have cheese if you’re lactose intolerant. The longer a cheese is aged, the less lactose the cheese will have. You’re welcome. So eat cheese and be happy.

Details about my cheese and tea tasting are coming soon! Make sure to follow the French Cheese Board and Cheeses of Europe to find out about their pop up events (like cheese trucks!) and free events to the public. They also have a wealth of information on their sites that will make you a cheese connoisseur!

What’s your favorite type of French cheese? Share below! And make sure to let me know what deliciousness you picked up at FCB this weekend!

Note: This is not a sponsored post… I just really really love cheese. And France.
