Are Mothers The ‘Best’ Thing About America?

(response to Lisa Belkin’s post which you  can find here: Are Mothers the Best thing in America? ) Lisa, you have put this so simply… i knew there was somethng that bothered me, and you hit the spot. I love being a mother (and boy is it hard sometimes!) but I also don’t consider myself ONLY a mother, there are many more aspects to my life… What I didn’t like about the speech was that she placed so much emphasis on mothers yet failed to mention that we need policies like paid sick leave, paid maternity leave, more access to daycares and nursery schools to prepare out children for the world, better education for our children, more access to better quality food… i could continue but the list would be too long. ..and what about single women? do they not matter?? (i was a single woman once too, and so was she!)
I agree with Michi Chi (comment below) when she said that if the GOP really cared, they would make lives easier for women… advocating policies that support women! the GOP does none of that… they don’t support women or moms.
