Business and Life Wisdom at #BlogHer18

This year I got the chance to attend my first BlogHer Creators Summit. There was a lot of wisdom at #Blogher18!

The event was a star-filled event- from Hollywood heavy hitters, to models, to elected officials, to CEOs and entrepreneurs, #BlogHer18 had a bit for everyone.  These quotes definitely touched me and I hope you will find some inspiration in them as well.

I wanted to share some of the awesome advice and wisdom at #BlogHer18:

Brooklyn Decker and Whitney Case were there to discuss their new venture, Finery, and discussed the importance of knowing who you are working with:

Gabrielle Union says you get to be choosy.

“If you have a great idea – you will have a out of suitors, you can be choosy. Great ideas will have plenty of suitors.”

On medical issues Gabrielle says “It’s ok to be the pesky patient.”

On using your voice: “Using your platform your voice to change conversations.”

A great reminder: “It is OK to say NO.”

Uzo Aduba and Gabrielle Union on intersectionality:

“Every vision or movement should have intersectionality.” – Gabrielle Union

Marie Forleo had so much wisdom to share:

First, did you know that she had side jobs for seven years? Also, she didn’t take a job with great benefits to pursue a career as a coach (She was 23 years old).

“The best way to start is to start- start before you’re ready. Don’t think, GO.” @marieforleo#blogher18

Amy Schumer on the need to lift women of color:

“Things are worse for women of color and if you don’t do anything to lift them up you’re a piece of shit.”

Maria Menounos on being happy every day and personal development:

“If you’re not happy with what you’re doing every day, please stop- do what you love and the moment will come.”

Work on your personal development as much as your career.

Ask and it is given.

On changing work culture:

Talking about gender roles in the home:

How do you structure your home?
Be intentional with distribution of tasks.
So it doesn’t fall into the normal gender tasks.

On Paid Leave:

On the importance of diversity:

There will always be haters:

Be the light in the darkness:

Finally, I loved this card as a reminder of how to live a happy life that I got from Lady Laura!
