In 2030, my son will be 19 years old. I imagine he will be in college. I imagine the world I want in 2030 and I think about all the things that need to be improved in our country and around the world. The good news is that anyone can make a difference by being an advocate, raising awareness and raising funds. With the power of social media, you can make a difference in a child’s life, in a mother’s life. That’s why I’m delighted to share the Global Moms Relay and help raise funds to make a difference in a mother’s life, in a child’s life.
What is the Global Moms Relay?
“The Global Moms Relay is a digital stage to share our hopes and goals for a better future, and inspire action to help improve the lives of mothers and children everywhere. The United Nations Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, with support from BabyCenter and The Huffington Post, created the Global Moms Relay to prove that small actions can lead to big changes and to put moms and dads at the forefront of the discussion on how to work alongside the UN and other organizations tackle the world’s most important challenges.”
Johnson & Johnson has pledged $300,000 to support organizations doing great work for women, children and families all around the world by contributing to four organizations: Girl Up, Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), the Shot@Life campaign, and UNICEF. During the Global Moms Relay which started on Mother’s Day and ends on Father’s Day, Johnson & Johnson has pledged $1 for every time an article is shared. They have asked celebrities, community leaders and parents to answer the question:
Here’s what I want for ALL FAMILIES by 2030:
In 2030 I envision a world where there will be gender equality.
Where a woman will earn the same pay that a man makes for the same job.
Where a Black Mother will not fear for the life of her teenage son, husband, brother or father.
Where the United States will no longer be the No. 1 Incarcerator
Where the USA spends more money on education than on incarceration.
Where mothers and fathers will have access to paid family leave.
Where College students will not be burdened with astronomical student loans.
Where affordable housing is available for all people, especially for low-income and aging adults.
Where no child lives in poverty.
Where no child dies due to disease preventable by vaccines.
Where no person commits suicide because of bullying.
Where all people will have access to affordable healthcare, and no one goes into debt to pay medical bills.
Where all communities have access to healthy food at affordable prices.
Where food is actually wholesome and nutritious for everyone.
Where infant mortality rates in poor communities aren’t double or triple the rates in rich communities.
Where LGBTQ families have the same rights as other families.
Where a woman’s reproductive rights are her choice and only hers.
Where children aren’t separated from their parents due to a broken immigration system.
Where a cure for AIDS has been found.
Where women are no longer enslaved and trafficked.
I envision a place where families are seen as the cornerstone of society- but really and truly — not as political soundbites the way “family” is used today in this country.
What kind of world do you want in 2030?

The Global Moms Relay started on on May 1st at the SocialGood event in NYC and ends on June 19th. During that time, you can read the different posts written and share away to reach the goal of 300,000 shares for $300,000!
