It’s World Immunization Week!

There are a lot of misconceptions about vaccines. Probably the biggest one is that there is a link between vaccinations and autism. Check out this study review by the Institute of Medicine which rejects links between vaccines and autism.

When my son was younger, I did have doubts about vaccinations– doesn’t every mother? After all, we want to give our kids the best, and protect them. I followed the recommended schedule for vaccinations because I thought about the alternative, that my son could become very sick. If I had to do it over again, I would… especially because there have been many reported outbreaks reported in my area. While I respect other parents’ decisions, I think not vaccinating puts other children at risk and is a public health problem.

So because it’s World Immunization Week, I thought I’d share some stats on immunizations and remind you to make sure yours are all up to date!
