We were very fortunate to be part of the 30,000 people that went to the White House on Monday April 21, 2014 to join in the 137th Easter Egg Roll at the White House’s South Lawn.
Did you know that this celebration is the biggest event hosted by the White House? President Obama also says, it is the most fun! (I bet he’s right.) There were so many fun activities, we didn’t have time to check them all out! Enzo had a great time running around and taking pictures with some of his favorite characters.
This year’s theme was “Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape” inspired by the First Lady’s Let’s Move campaign. I loved the healthy activities: Bean Bag Throw, Basketball, Tennis and Yoga.
There were other stations such as “Play with your Food” and also performances by Ariana Grande and story time by Jim Carrey. The President also read a book, I was so sad to miss that!
Enzo loved learning how eggs get from the farm to the table… he loves eggs and was pretty obsessed with the chickens!

Going to this event was particularly touching for me because I never thought that as a mom, I’d have a chance to share something so special with my little boy. You always hear about people doing these awesome things, and you never think you will have the opportunity to do them. I was especially touched because given my son’s multicultural background, I think it is important for him to appreciate all his cultures, including his American side.
I do hope that I get the opportunity to partake in the Easter Egg Roll again when Enzo is older, since he probably won’t remember this time… but if we don’t, at least he will have the pictures, and I love hearing him say “Fuimos a la Casa Blanca” or tell him grandparents in France, “Nous sommes allés à la Maison Blanche.”
All in all, we had a fabulous time, I can’t wait to go back to DC when Enzo is a little older so we can learn more about our nation’s capital!
