Last month, I was invited by my friends over at Visit Philly to check out Philadelphia and I have to say… WOW! Philadelphia has something for everyone! Here are ten Reasons to Visit Philadelphia:
10 Reasons to Visit Philadelphia
1. The History
Philadelphia is a city so rich in history and culture, where our Founding Fathers walked, and where our nation was born.
2. The Food
Of course, there’s the Philly Cheese Steak… But there’s so much more! For a romantic dinner with your significant other or a lovely girls’ night out, visit the Moshulu located at Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia’s waterfront on the Delaware River. The food is amazing. If you want to go the historic route, make sure to stop by City Tavern where you can enjoy 18th century fare as Founding Fathers did– and drink like them too! Make sure to taste Jefferson’s ale.
3. Art
If you’re an art lover you will not be disappointed. Philadelphia is home to many amazing museums, including the Rodin Museum— you don’t need to go to Paris to see the Thinker! Also, the Philadelphia Museum of Art (yes, the Rocky steps) and the Barnes Foundation. You will not be disappointed!
4. Rocky
If you’re a fan of the legendary, Oscar-winning movie Rocky, Philadelphia is a must… Try the Rocky itinerary.
5. Science
If science is your thing, the Franklin Institute is one if the best science museums in the country. Their recently opened wing and permanent exhibit, “Brain” will amaze you.
6. Family-friendly
It’s a great destination for the whole family! Your children can have fun and learn! The Philadelphia Zoo, the country’s first zoo, is a must-see for people of all ages. Check out these other great family-friendly musts.
7. Convenient
Philadelphia is located 2 hours from NYC, and is easily accessible by train, bus, or car.
8. Quintessentially American.
There’s probably no other city that holds so much of our nation’s history. I’ve heard that Philadelphia’s Fourth of July celebration is a week long fest! Visit the Constitution Center, dedicated to our Nation’s Founding document and other national treasures.
9. Beer
Try colonial-inspired ales at City Tavern and visit the fabulous beer gardens all over the city. There’s a Summer Ale Festival at the Philadelphia Zoo every year– visit the zoo after hours and sample over 40 different craft ales and enjoy live music.
10. LOVE
It’s the city of brotherly love. Need any more reasons?
