La Maltija: Malta’s Best Kept Culinary Secret
OK, I haven’t eaten in all the restaurants in Malta but I believe we stumbled upon the best restaurant in Malta and boy were we in for a treat! On our last evening in Malta, chance brought us to La Maltija. We hadn’t read about it in any travel website, nor had it been recommended to us. Truthfully, we were going to another restaurant but as our luck would have it (thank goodness) that place was full. We had stumbled upon La Maltija and decided an authentic Maltese restaurant was the best way to end our short vacation to the archipelago.
La Maltija was spectacular.
We had an appetizer called “Ftira Miftuha – Open Ftira” a flatbread with olive oil, fresh and sundried tomatoes, goat’s cheese and local herbs.
We had a delicious rack of lamb with the most amazing creamy mint sauce. This is literally the best rack of lamb I’ve ever had.
We also had a lobster spaghetti that was SO good. It comes with a whole lobster.
We had a nice bottle of Maltese wine (Maltese wine is excellent and reasonably priced).
After our delicious meal we did a bit of research and it turns out that the chef at La Maltija is Charles Spiteri, a renowned chef who has been the personal chef of the former President of Malta, as well as Margaret Thatcher.
If you don’t believe me, check out these pics and your mouth will probably water.
I love food. And #Malta has certainly not disappointed! Last night we had the best meal yet- spaghetti with lobster and the most delicious rack of lamb I’ve ever had with a yummy mint cream sauce. to die for. We also tried the red Maltese wine and it also was exceptional. Evviva (cheers) to Malta! 🇲🇹 We had it at a #Maltese restaurant Called La Maltija on Church Street in St. Julian. #visitmalta #travellatina #latinaswhotravel #mkbkids #ladydeetravels #multicultural
