Christmas Carols in Spanish Your Bilingual Kids Will Love
The Christmas season is a great to reinforce Spanish in fun ways: traditions, cooking traditional foods, dancing to music in Spanish, seeing family in other countries, and of course, singing Christmas carols in Spanish. Cascabel, Cascabel (Jingle Bells)
Just like with books, I like introducing songs that my son is familiar with in English, but in Spanish. Since he knows and loves Jingle Bells, I know he will be excited to sing the song in Spanish, since the tune is familiar.
Mi Burrito Sabanero
This is my son’s favorite villancico because we have been singing it since he was little… mostly because of Mundo Lanugo! We sing it year round, and check out this video it is SO cute!
Rodolfo el Reno
The classic Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer in Spanish. As always, Rodolfo has the last laugh and turns out to be the coolest reindeer of all– there’s a lesson in this song! Great opportunity to talk about bullying and treating others with kindness.
Noche de Paz
This one is a little slower- if you go to church, you will probably hear it there. Note: Noche de Paz doesn’t translate to “Silent Night.”
Feliz Navidad
This song reminds me of my Christmas gatherings with my parents as a little girl because everyone loved this song, and it always played– best of all, it is truly the bilingual crossover song that plays EVERYWHERE.
Pastores Venid
I learned this song when I attended nursery school in Ecuador, and I saw myself singing the chorus as a four year old in a home video. So, I’m teaching it to my son.
